1. Quite a lot, more than three times the governments pay but you are considered a "mercenary", if you are assigned to a foreign nation. There you are in real trouble if taken prisoner. The private armies are not recognized as valid soldiers in other lands and are more apt to be abused to deadly points than a regular soldier. Currently in Iraq a large number of mercenaries are killed but are not recorded as they do not belong to the nations army, but a private company. There are other drawbacks as well but that will give you an idea of what you are in for. There are perks, and pay greater than the regular army but then the risks you take if assigned to a foreign land are far greater.
