Why doesn't Congress draft the private security firms in Iraq, into the military?
Even Defense Secretary Gates has concerns about the oversight of these security firms. Maliki wants Blackwater out of Iraq. The US government often drafted private companies into the military during WWII. The government could double the US military presence in Iraq overnight. Probably at half the cost. Why not draft every US citizen, who is currently in Iraq and carrying a weapon, into the military?

- because they are in Iraq American congress power's stop at America's shore additionally many of them are not American
- Selective drafting would be grossly illegal for one thing. Especially since you're advocating drafting the employees of a foreign corporation, that would open up a whole new can of worms.
- Because we pride ourselves on having a voluntary military. We don't want to change that.
