Do security guards have to wear a form of identification?
Would a security guard at a department store such as Khol's be required to wear a form of identification or a uniform?

- I went to a night club a few weeks ago and the bouncers didn't wear uniforms
- I believe that state law dictates that. It may not be required, but it's really lame if they don't. The whole point of the uniform is to discourage crime, not catch them. It's much better if it just doesn't happen.
- No...why? Do you also want to get SMS messages when the police are busy so you can commit crimes?
- Most security officers and guards wear uniforms to represent the company they work for. They also usually wear some form identification. Loss prevention officers are a different story. They have to blend in with customers and do not wear uniforms. This is b/c they can catch you stealing that way, w/o you knowing it. Loss prevention officers and security officers/guards have different job functions. Normally loss prevention works in dept stores like kohls, macys, nordstrom, sears, ect. Security officers/guards work in malls, hospitals, apartment complexes, ect... loss prevention officers job is to apprehend and detain shoplifters. Security officers/guards job is to deter, detect, observe, and report crime.
