How to find security jobs in Toronto?

Hey guys, I have had my security license for a couple months now, but am having trouble finding a security position. I have no experience and must have applied to 50 places online but no response. Appreciate the help and happy to give points.

  1. check the employment news and job news found in paper boxes all over Toronto
  2. There are two tiers in the security field, The first is "contract security" which is almost ALWAYS hiring, these are the guard companies that are constantly trying to keep their ranks full. There should be a few advertisements in the local newspapers help wanted section, and generally their websites indicate that you should forward a resume by email or fax, some examples are: http://www.primaryresponse.ca/careers.php http://www.securitas.com/ca/en-ca/Career/Apply-Online/ http://www.gardaglobal.com/careers.php?lang=en (Garda presently looking for Security Officers in GTA) http://www.intelligarde.com/ http://www.reillysecuritycanada.com/html/division_results.html http://www.knightsonguard.com/contactus.htm (There are a host of others, I can't even begin to name them...look in the yellow pages under security) The second tier is "proprietary security" or "in-house", which is companies that provide their own security, generally these positions require experience or a law and security diploma at the very least. If you have been applying for these jobs the lack of a response is not too surprising, as you may not have the experience they are looking for. Generally speaking people get some experience in contract security and if they are paying attention then they snag an in-house job. Keep at it, honestly there is no reason you should spend more than a week getting a security job if you are already holding a valid licence. Hope this was some help!
