  1. No, they use private security companies primarily for security details of Government and private contracting firms, to prevent them from gettin kidnapped and beheaded from savage members of Al-Qaeda.
  2. Yes, at some bases the gates are manned by security companies. I'll try to catch the name of the company on my way to another base today
  3. yep the last two bases ...some guys in blue..seems to be alot of retired military..i dont know the name of the company..seems like its the same company though to be honest with you. edit: its not just the air force...Fort Bragg in Nc has security guys ..and the last air force base was all military the new air force base is security guys
  4. The Air Force is. That's because of the high number of security squadron personnel who have been deployed for convoy protection, etc. I believe the companies vary by air base locale.
  5. The only military bases that I have been on that had non-military security are stateside. Those bases were/are support bases, with few military units actually stationed there. Overseas bases usually had two security groups, one American and one host nation. Some of the host nation security groups were actually police, others were military. The base my ship was homeported in had civilian security (it was the supply center in Oakland), but I don't remember what company they worked for. There were civilian security at the old Navy Nuclear Prototype training unit in Idaho; they worked for the Pinkerton Company, contracted by Westinghouse.
  6. Germany has PONDS seems to be a Welfare to work program
  7. if you read their patches, they are Department of Defense Police. They are not the same as Military Police. I think they are civilians but have only to enforce the law on the military base.
  8. Yes, many military bases use private security now. You have to apply at the base, you don't apply at Corporate Headquarters and then get assigned a base. IE: Each base or post, hires thier own people. It's not like Blackwater, where they assign you where needed. Pay is not bad, not great either. Starting pay at Fort Campbell was $15.15 an hour three years ago. Not sure what it is now. If you could prove you had health insurance, then you could opt out of thier health insurance and get paid an extra $3.00 an hour. But i'll tell ya now, I have never seen them advertise, not once ever. You basicly have to know someone, to know when they are hiring and to get hiired. Only way I got an interview, was my dad ( a retired CSM ) knew the retired CSM, who was running the security force at Fort Campbell. Names of some are : AKAL SECTEK Wackenhut Alutiiq Group 4 Securicor
